For the Mash:
- Cooler box mash tun
- Grain bag
- Thermometer
- large mixing spoon
- Stainless Steel Colander (for the sparging according to this process)
For the Boil:
- my large Hart pot (which serves to heat the mash/sparge water as well as the boil)
- small scale to weigh hops
- Irish moss to add toward the end
For the cooling after the boil:
- Old school steel bath tub (I have a dodgy little tub I chill my boiling pot in by making some ice water as delineated in this post)
- Syphon tube (to syphon chilled beer to the fermenter)
For fermentation:
- Iodophor - to sanitise everything that will be used during the process
- additional bucket (optional - used to house the sterilising solution)
- Fermentation vessel (obviously)
- airlocks (and bung if required) with lid
- Hydrometer and test tube (optional)
So no excuse anymore to get your mates involved and share the love of brewing!!! Even if he has never done it before and has nothing to offer but a stove and some counter space, it can still be done. Next step for us is to build a proper mash tun and graduate to a gas burner so we can pump out some buff all-grain batches (as we did a partial mash due to limited equipment)!
Get packing, son!
