I pondered whether it was worth doing this little post, but figured that it is such an easy and genius idea it might be worth sharing...hopefully it saves a couple of arguments and helps you keep your brewing hobby safe (and out of everyone's way). With all the brewing and extract experiments I have been doing lately, I end up with quite a bit of beer. Beer that needs to end up in bottles. Bottles that need to be stored somewhere in my tiny apartment...I have mused before about getting a storage crate for the equipment, but where to store the bottles? |
- Get some quart crates for all your little 440ml/550ml bottles (I found that the dumpy crates are just too small for the 440ml bottles). I picked mine up at Ultra Liquors in Green point and I think it cost me R11 a crate or something, really not a bank breaker.
- Next head out to your local hardware store and pick up a piece of pine shelf. The idea is to cut it to the same width of the crates and to the length of how many crates you can stack in line. I have seven crates, five in a row and one on top of the other on each end.
- Once cut to size, simply place all your bottles in the crates and then lay the plank across the top.
Do you have any other storage or home brew related tips you could share? Give me a shout or drop some ideas in the comments.
