What really made this beer shine was – upon the brewer's recommendation actually – adding a tot or two of coffee liqueur to add the coffee/toffee that some might argue will graduate this drink to more of a stout. Immediately the liqueur aroma infuses with the light smoky smell and it bumps the taste sensations, however this immediately changes it from a session-porter to something I might only have one of for the evening.
All in all there is a common element between these two beers with the Porter also displaying a very slight metallic aftertaste - this taste described by my roomie as "tasting of the Eastern Cape" so I guess these guys can lay claim that they are one of the first and few down in Echo Charlie trying to make it in this craft beer boom.
